Patents, 09 July 2019

The Licensing and Intellectual Property Department of JINR announces that on 18 June 2019, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research received a patent for the invention “Device for investigating properties of a tube of a coordinate particle detector”. The authors of the work are Volkov Aleksandr Dmitrievich, Kravchenko Mikhail Dmitrievich, and Pavlov Aleksey Viktorovich.

JINR staff congratulates the authors on receiving the patent for their invention!

More details about the invention

FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the investigation of mechanical properties of shells of tubular material and to the prediction of service life of string in coordinate particle detectors based thereon. The device solves the task of high-accuracy measurement of string characteristics: elastic and plastic deformation area, elasticity modulus, Poisson ratio, tube material tension relaxation time, which influences service life of string in an experiment. Proposed device comprises base accommodating analyzed string with tips arranged on the base, strain gage, air dehydration system based on silica gel powder, device casing to make sealed volume with base. One of the tips is connected to the unit for tensioning the material to the string and has an input for the supply of gas under pressure into the string, and the other tip is connected to the input of a strain gage, which is rigidly fixed on the base. Inside the sealed volume a thermostabilisation system is installed, comprising a temperature sensor located in the area of the investigated string, a heating element, fans, a diffuser with holes located in it orthogonally, wherein the temperature sensor, the heating element and the fans are connected to the control unit located outside the sealed volume, and the output of the strain gage is connected to the analyzing equipment placed outside the device. String tensioning unit consists of screw rigidly connected with tip and of nut installed on screw from the outer side of the device housing, rotation of which allows high-precision setting of longitudinal deformation of the material to string.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of obtained results
