JINR popularizes science in children’s homes

Education, 19 December 2017

On 15 – 16 December 2017, a voluntary project “Rational long-haul truck driver” jointly with the JINR University Centre organized a trip to Chelyabinsk Oblast for a young JINR employee to hold popular science events in two children’s homes.

Dmitry Klimansky (VBLHEP JINR) visited the social centre for rehabilitation №2 (Polevskoy, 50 km far from Ekaterinburg) and the children’s home for orphans (Verkhny Ufaley, 120 km far from Ekaterinburg) where he tried to arouse interest to science among children by carrying out popular science experiments in interactive form. As was expected, collective conduct of experiments with the use of liquid nitrogen that was specially brought from Moscow for the event evoked the most vivid response.

The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research pays special attention not only to popularization and sharing information about its scientific activity in social and scientific communities, but also to popularization of science at large with the aim to promote critical reasoning among young generations and to involve them into scientific research.
