On 23 September 2019, the Kamchatka School on Physics of Elementary Particles and Related Topics was launched in Paratunka village, Kamchatka Federal Subject.

This unique for Kamchatka scientific and educational event was organized by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research jointly with the Vitus Bering Kamchatka State University and the Institute of Cosmophysical Research and Radio Wave Propagation FEB RAS. The main goal of the School is to tell Kamchatka students, post-graduates, young researchers as well as school teachers of physics about advanced research on physics of microworld in an understandable way, to outline prospects for further joint work, to launch joint projects.

The scientific programme will include introductory lectures on the following topics:

  • Introduction to nuclear physics and particle physics
  • Neutron physics: fundamental research and practical applications
  • Modern experiment in particle physics
  • Neutrino physics
  • Application of particles
  • Science in JINR
  • Science in the ICRRWP FEB RAS

The School also includes practical tasks: the spectroscopy workshop.

Lectures will be delivered by invited staff members of JINR and other institutes of Russia, specialists acknowledged in their fields, world-level scientists.

Knowledge gained during lectures will be solidified in informal discussions in small groups. The audience will also have an opportunity to present small reports or posters on their work.
