Scientists from the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna came up with a proposal to name the new element number 115 of the D.I.Mendeleev Periodic Table “Moscowium”. This topic was made public at the meeting of the Governor of the Moscow region Andrey Vorobiev and JINR Director, Academician Victor Matveev, as a correspondent of “Moscow today” informs.

“The priority in the discovery of element 115 is given to Russian scientists, and now we are dreaming that the new element will be called “Moscowium”. This is our gift back to the region for the support that the government of the Moscow region provides us. In 2014, 50 million rubles for work on synthesis of new elements were allocated from the Moscow region budget.
