New JINR patent

Patents, 17 March 2020

The Licensing and Intellectual Property Department of JINR announces that on 4 March 2020, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research received a patent for the invention “Gas-filled detector for small-angle scattering of thermal neutrons”. The authors of the work are Bogdzel Andrey Alekseevich, Milkov Vasil Mikhailov, Panteleev Tsvetan Tsenov.

JINR staff congratulates the authors on receiving the patent for their invention!

More details about the invention

The invention relates to technical physics, namely to detectors for detecting thermal neutrons. The essence of the invention lies in the fact that a gas-filled detector for measuring the small-angle scattering of thermal neutrons has cathodes made in the form of a system of grounded concentric rings of different diameters, wherein each ring is made of flexible resilient material, outer and inner sides of each ring are coated with metal-coated layer; the inner layer of the ring is divided by electrically insulating layers into sectors which act as separate cathodes mutually oriented at the geometrical centre of the detector; grounding is performed through outer ring layer, which serves as additional cathode; for the anode thread holder in the zone of the electrically insulating layer of each ring holes are made; each anode and each sector cathode are individually connected to analogue electronics, forming two-dimensional detectors; analogue electronics is located inside the housing volume.
EFFECT: technical result is the high accuracy of measuring the location of inhomogeneities in the analysed sample.
