Patent for laser inclinometer received

Patents, 18 May 2021

The Licensing and Intellectual Property Department of JINR announces that on 23 April 2021, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research received a patent for the invention “Laser inclinometer”. The authors of the work are Julian A. Budagov and Mikhail V. Lyablin.

JINR staff congratulates the authors on receiving the patent for their invention!

More details about the invention

FIELD: instrumentation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to instrumentation and can be used for precision measurement of the angular inclinations of objects on the earth’s surface in small-sized conditions for placing the device, in particular, for monitoring the angular position of largescale structures (high-rise buildings, bridges, overpasses, tunnels, etc.). The present device consists of a platform. A single-mode power-stabilized laser and a cuvette with a viscous dielectric liquid are attached to the platform. The single-mode power-stabilized laser is located in such a way that the path of its beam is perpendicular to the surface of the liquid in the cuvette. The cuvette is located on the path of the beam from the laser. There is an optical element deflecting the laser beam reflected from the surface of the liquid and a position-sensitive photodetector between the laser and the surface of the liquid. The position-sensitive photodetector is made on the basis of dividing plates and has a registration unit that measures the angle of inclination of the platform.
EFFECT: reduced size of the laser inclinometer
