On 30 March 2018, the ceremony of the Lomonosov Gold Medals for 2017 were awarded at the annual General meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The medals were conferred to RAS Academician Yuri Tsolakovich Oganessian for fundamental research in the fields of interaction of complex nuclei and experimental evidence of existence of an “island of stability” for superheavy elements and to Björn Jonson (Sweden) for his fundamental scientific papers essentially important for research of nuclear structure and nuclear stability of the exotic lightest nuclei at the boundary of nucleon stability.
