A visit of JINR Plenipotentiary of Armenia

A meeting of the JINR Directorate with representatives of Armenia was held on 8 July 2014. The meeting was attended by JINR Vice-Directors M.G.  Itkis and G.V. Trubnikov, Academican Yu.Ts. Oganessian, Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department D.V. Kamanin, JINR Plenipotentiary of Armenia S. Harutyunyan, his Assistants V. Kirakossian and Kh. Kirakossian, JINR staff members G. Torossian and Eh. Airian.

The main purpose of this visit was to discuss contributions of the JINR Member States. At the March Session of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the Governments of the JINR Member States proposed a new mechanism of receiving contributions from participating countries. S. Harutyunyan said that this issue was discussed with Prime Minister of Armenia and confirmed the participation of Armenia. He also spoke about production of radionuclides which is being established in Armenia and presented information about the change of funding for scientific and educational institutions in Armenia. M. Itkis spoke about possible directions of development of cooperation between JINR and Armenia. Academician Yu.Ts. Oganessian made proposals for promoting the JINR activities in Armenia and suggested Armenia to organize an exhibition devoted to JINR. The idea was considered good. Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department D.V. Kamanin emphasized there is a great opportunity to realize it in the frames of a year of preparation for the 60th anniversary of JINR.
