A visit of Ambassador of the Slovak Republic

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic Jozef Migaš accompanied by the First Secretary of the Slovak Embassy Peter Zengõ and Director of the company “STM Power a.s.” Stanislav Králik visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.

JINR Director V.A. Matveev, JINR Vice-Directors M.G. Itkis and R. Lednický, Director of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions of JINR S.N. Dmitriev and Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department D.V.Kamanin., participated in the meeting on the JINR side. Discussion of a plan of further cooperation of the Slovak Republic with JINR on completion of construction of the Cyclotron center of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava (subsequent to the decision taken by the government of the Slovak Republic on 17 October) based on the cyclotron DC-72 developed at FLNR of JINR was the main issue of the visit. Ambassador Jozef Migaš reported about a forthcoming session of an inter-governmental board of the Russian Federation and The Slovak Republic, where a discussion of construction of the Cyclotron center will be among the priority issues. He also highly appreciated the expert commentary of JINR on all areas relative to conclusion of required solutions. During the discussion with the Ambassador JINR Director V.A. Matveev said: “We are ready to start modification and assembling of the accelerator equipment. It is a matter of honour for us to provide assistance to JINR member state”. For example, in 2001-2006 30 specialists for the future Slovak cyclotron center were trained at FLNR on the initiative of JINR. After the talks the Slovak delegation was acquainted the FLNR accelerator complex.
