Element 112 was named

Scientists decided on the name of the 112nd element of the Mendeleev Periodic table of elements. It was named "copernicium" in honour of medieval astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. The name was suggested by the discovering team of researchers of the German Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt (GSI) where the element was discovered in 1966, GSI press release says.
