JINR Days in Hungary

The workshop “JINR Days in Hungary” organized by HAS, NKTH (National Office for Research and Technology) and JINR was held in Budapest on 3 – 5 December 2008. A representative delegation of 20 leading scientists and authorities from Dubna was headed by JINR Director academician A. Sissakyan. From the Hungarian part the President of HAS Jozsef Pálinkás and the Minister of Science, Research and Innovation of Hungary Prof. Károly Molnár greeted the participants.

In the course of the workshop the wide range of current joint scientific activities, the strategic issues and new ideas of cooperation between Hungary and JINR was discussed. Hungarian participants were especially interested in the development of innovations, particularly, the Special Economic Zone, the applied research and the JINR educational program, introduced by the University Centre.

The Hungarian side noted the significant development of the JINR research infrastructure. In the minutes of the workshop it is proposed to take into consideration the possible use of JINR basic facilities by Hungarian scientists in the working up the Hungarian national inventory in the scientific infrastructure, and in the Road Map of Hungary in the research activities and innovations.

The last workshop consolidated JINR relations with the Hungarian scientific community and added new possibilities of interaction in radiobiology, ecologic and radiation monitoring and in the field of innovations. The workshop became a stepping stone to the integration Dubna into the European research infrastructure landscape.
