News, 06 June 2019
The ISTC-CERN-JINR Summer School “Introduction to High Energy Physics and Accelerator Physics” will be held at al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Almaty (Kazakhstan), on 25 – 31 August 2019.
The ISTC-CERN-JINR Summer School on High Energy Physics and Accelerator Physics is held with the support of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the International Science and Technology Centre, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, the Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP), and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).
The School is held in accordance with the roadmap approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan for the implementation of events of the international agreement on scientific cooperation between Kazakhstan and CERN.
About 50 young scientists from CIS countries and Georgia, one half of whom are students and young specialists from Kazakhstan, traditionally take part in the series of the School. It is planned to invite leading foreign specialists for lectures on the theme of the School.
The programme of the School is aimed at undergraduates, PhD students and postgraduates from CIS countries and Georgia majoring in High Energy Physics and Accelerator Physics. The School will include five days of lectures, hands-on activities, a visit to the INP experimental facilities, poster and oral presentations of the School participants, and video-conferences with CERN. The School will cover the following topics:
- High Energy Physics
- Accelerator Physics
- Quark-gluon plasma
- Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics
- Condensed Matter Physics
- Nuclear Medicine and Medical Physics
- Computing and Big Data
- Perspectives of LHC
The working language of the School is English.
