The Round Table Meeting «Topical Issues of General and Space Radiobiology and Astrobiolody»

Conferences

On 9-11 October 2016, the Laboratory of Radiation Biology JINR holds the Round Table Meeting «Topical Issues of General and Space Radiobiology and Astrobiolody».

Organizers of the Round Table Meeting: the Laboratory of Radiation Biology JINR, the RAS Scientific Council on Radiobiology, the RAS Scientific Council on Astrobiology, the RAS Radiobiological Society.

The study of molecular and genetic alterations in the cells of higher organisms, including humans, is the most important direction of modern radiation biology. Investigation of the role of radiation in the formation of complex prebiotic compounds, the seek and the study of microfossils in meteorites and early terrestrial protocrust can help us to come closer to the problem of the origin of life on Earth, and to clarify the issue of the habitability of other planets or their satellites. The Meeting programme includes modern data on mechanisms of formation of genetic and epigenetic changes in the genome of organisms exposed to different doses of ionizing radiation, and the consequences of these changes, as well as analysis of the latest results of astrobiology research.
