Visit of ambassador B. Kotsev to JINR

On 21 March 2017, Bulgarian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Boyko Kotsev and embassy staff members, took part in the special anniversary meeting at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Moscow Region, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of registration of the scientific discovery in the field of high-energy physics co-authored by Bulgarian scientists Velko Zayachki and Pavel Markov.

The meeting was opened by JINR Director Academician Viсtor Matveev, who highlighted that Bulgaria made a significant contribution to creation and development of internationally known JINR scientific center.

JINR was founded in 1956, and during its 61-year of existence, hundreds of Bulgarian scientists have been working at the Institute.

Through their work, they made an exceptional contribution not only to the success of scientific research activities of the Institute but also contributed to maintaining a high level of research in the fields of nuclear physics in Bulgaria. In his greeting, Ambassador B. Kotsev highlighted his belief that partnership of Bulgaria and Russia in the scientific sphere, which has a long history, will continue to develop for the benefit of two nations.

In the frames of the event, Mr. Kotsev opened an exhibition in the Cultural Centre “Mir” dedicated to declaration of independence of Bulgaria in 1908.

At the end of the visit to JINR, Ambassador B. Kotsev met with Bulgarian scientists and members of the Bulgarian national group in Dubna.
