Today is a special day for the Joint Institute. On 14 April, we congratulate Yuri Tsolakovich Oganessian on his birthday. He is our pride, living legend, discoverer of heavy elements of the Periodic Table, one of which – element 118 – was named after the scientist.

Last year, Yuri Tsolakovich became one of the two laureates of the UNESCO-Russia Mendeleev International Prize for his significant contribution to the development of basic sciences.
