The Russian MIA Administration for the Dubna region warns employees of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research about increased cases of fraud with money of citizens and guests of JINR’s city of location. The police ask citizens to be vigilant and prevent attackers from accessing personal data such as details of bank cards and accounts, as well as passwords and codes, in particular.

Moreover, scammers may pose as security officers of credit and financial institutions or law enforcement officers (MIA, the FSB, the prosecutor’s office, the Investigative Committee of Russia).

Tips of the Russian MIA Administration for the Dubna region for protecting yourself from scams:

  • Do not click on suspicious links on the Internet, do not enter bank card details on unfamiliar sites.
  • Do not download suspicious files online as they may consist of digital viruses and contribute to the leakage of personal data, including bank cards.
  • Do not pay in advance for goods and services on Internet sites (Avito, Youla, etc.).
  • A specific type of fraud is phone calls that inform people about troubles happened to their relatives, as well as calls from fake bank employees. While receiving such calls, the best solution would be to end the conversation, not to establish a dialogue with criminals.
