10th MAC-NICA Meeting

The 10th regular meeting of the international Machine Аdvisory Сommittee (MAC) on the NICA project was launched in the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics on 5 June 2019.

At the opening of the meeting, Head of the ESR Department of the GSI Accelerating Complex M. Steck, JINR Director Academician V. A. Matveev, JINR Vice-Director B. Yu. Sharkov, and JINR Vice-Director, Director of the Laboratory of High Energy Physics V. D. Kekelidze delivered their welcoming speeches.

The permanent members of the Committee are leading specialists in accelerator technology – specialists in the design and development of large accelerator complexes from the largest scientific centres of Russia and the world. The work of the meeting was aimed at an expert assessment of the progress in the NICA mega-science project, its current status, and receiving recommendations for its further implementation.

In addition to a rich programme of reports on the results of work on the NICA project, participants will have an excursion to the NICA construction site on the first day of the meeting. The second day of the event will be dedicated to reports on polarized beams at NICA. The meeting will be concluded on 6 June with a general discussion and submitting of the MAC resolution.
