Holiday is coming: “Jubilee” Working Group passes baton to Organizing Committee

On 11 December, the final meeting of the Working Group for preparation of events dedicated to the 65th anniversary of JINR was held.

It is not possible to draw up a detailed plan of international events in 2021 in the context of the pandemic. Nevertheless, the Joint Institute continues to work on filling the jubilee year with events. The past meeting concluded a series of three meetings of the Working Group that covered all major issues of the preparation to the celebration of the 65th JINR anniversary. Representatives of the JINR Member States took an active art in the meetings.

The last three meetings were chaired by Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department Dmitry Kamanin with the participation of the Institute’s Chief Scientific Secretary Alexander Sorin. Participants discussed in detail the preparation of the exhibition in the Cultural Centre “Mir”, as well as planned stages for further preparation of the mobile exhibition the concept of which was developed by a group of Czech and Polish specialists. The JINR University Centre made a number of proposals, including, in particular, decoration of the Dubna-Moscow Express and some other objects with JINR symbols, the installation of interactive information kiosks for acquaintance with the Institute, and the organization of the competition to choose the official logo of the 65th anniversary. The Scientific Information Department is preparing a book about JINR, calendars, brochures for the anniversary. The JINR Museum offers to hold exhibitions, conferences, days of documentaries, virtual and in-person excursions. In the jubilee year, a traditionally wide range of events of the JINR Universal Public Library will also include the restaurant day of the Member States, game quizzes, family online marathons, as well as art exhibitions and the art festival of JINR employees. The plans of the JINR Weekly Newspaper for the jubilee year include retrospective publications, a joint with the Institute’s Youth Association project, as well as a series of interviews with scientists from the Member States. Participants of the Working Group paid special attention to the development of a mobile application with information about the Institute for staff members and guests of JINR. Members of the Working Group also discussed some other proposals.

As a result of the work of the Working Group, topics for discussion were formulated for the meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation to the celebration of the 65th anniversary of JINR. The meeting will count down 100 days to the jubilee which will be celebrated on 26 March 2021.
