Israeli high-school students

17 high-school students accompanied by teachers from the HEMDA, the Centre for Science Education, Tel Aviv, Israel, arrived for at JINR for a three-day visit.

The guests had an extensive excursion programme that included visits to the Museum of History of Science and Technology of JINR, the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics, the Laboratory of Information Technologies, the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics, and the Laboratory of Radiation Biology.

In addition to introductory lectures and visits to the basic facilities of the Institute, the students practiced at the experimental equipment assembled by professor Yu.A. Panebratsev’s group in frames of implementation of the project “Virtual Laboratory of Nuclear Fission”. Under the supervision of K.V. Klyngina, G.A. Yarygin, A.O. Strekalovsky, P.D. Semchukov, and G.S. Averichev, the school students got acquainted with basics of electrical signals measurement, learned about operation of semiconductor and scintillation detectors, worked with a scintillation telescope of cosmic rays.
