A visit of a JINR delegation headed by JINR Vice-Director R. Lednický to Montenegro was held on 30-31 January 2017. The delegation also included: LIT Director V.V. Korenkov, UC Director S.Z. Pakuliak and Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department D.V. Kamanin. The key event of the visit was a meeting at the Ministry of Science of Montenegro in Podgorica, where the delegation was received by Minister of Science Sanja Damjanović.

During the meeting with the Minister, the JINR delegation suggested potential opportunities for scientists, engineers and students from Montenegro which could be provided by associated membership of Montenegro in JINR. The parties discussed possibilities of effective participation of Montenegro in the CMS experiment at СERN through collaboration with Dubna in the frames of the RDMS CMS or in other forms. The focus was on JINR educational programmes, in particular, opportunities for Montenegrin students studying in Russian universities. The participants of the meeting paid attention to planning of JINR conferences in Montenegro which had already been granted preferential terms. In particular, there was talk of certain aspects of the organization of the International Symposium NEC’2017 which will be held from 25 to 29 September 2017, and to which increased attention is expected not only from CERN and JINR, but also from a wide range of international participants.
