JINR took part in III International Scientific Forum “Nuclear Science and Technologies”

On 20 – 24 September 2021, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research took part in the III International Scientific Forum “Nuclear Science and Technologies” held at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan (Almaty). It was timed to the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

At the opening ceremony, JINR Director Academician Grigory Trubnikov addressed participants with a video greeting. He noted that the next year would mark the 30th anniversary of the membership of the Republic of Kazakhstan in JINR and expressed gratitude to Batyrzhan Karakozov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan in JINR, for his active support of further development of multifaceted cooperation between JINR and Kazakhstan. Having wished participants successful work, Grigory Trubnikov highlighted that the event would encourage creative communication, partnership, and search for new ideas.

The Forum was organized by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, RSE “Institute of Nuclear Physics”, RSE “National Nuclear Centre of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. The Chairman of the Forum was Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan in JINR, General Director of the RSE “Institute of Nuclear Physics” Batyrzhan Karakozov.

The key speakers of the event were representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency, CERN, RIKEN (Japan), the University of Surrey (UK), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), the NRNU MEPhI, and RIRAE (Russia). The topics of the Forum were nuclear physics, materials science and radiation solid state physics, atomic energy, radiation ecology and methods of analysis, nuclear and radiation technologies in medicine, industry and agriculture. Researchers from FLNR, BLTP, DLNP, FLNP, VBLHEP JINR took part in the plenary session, section sessions, and poster presentations.
