JUNO experiment meeting in Shanghai

News, 14 January 2019

From 12 to 18 January 2019, the 13th JUNO collaboration meeting is held in Shanghai (China).

JINR has been taking part in the JUNO collaboration for four years. The launch of the neutrino reactor experiment is planned for 2020. Nowadays, construction of the large laboratory “The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory” 150 km west of Hong Kong is underway. The main objective of the experiment is to determine the hierarchy of neutrino masses by precision measurement of neutrino oscillations.

A team of about 10 specialists from JINR, mostly staff members of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, came to the meeting.

It should be reminded that a computer cluster of the JUNO neutrino experiment is being developed in JINR. The cluster will be a part of the international distributed system for analysis of the JUNO experimental data. It is planned that the JINR Data Centre jointly with computational performance of CNAF (Italy) and CNRS (France) will be the basis for transfer, storage and analysis of the data obtained in the JUNO experiment.
