Students of Tambov STU get acquainted with NICA

On 18 February 2020, students of the Tambov State Technical University passing a modular training at Dubna State University under the student exchange programme visited the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics.

The VBLHEP engineer Olga Kazinova introduced the guests to the production site of the factory of superconducting magnets, which produces magnets for the two scientific partner projects – NICA and FAIR.

A VBLHEP senior engineer Ilya Shirikov gave a tour to the NICA injector, told the guests about the design of the LU-20 accelerator, the HILAC heavy ion accelerator, and the HILAC-Booster transport channel. He also explained to the students what tasks the injection complex would solve as well as described the role of engineers in the NICA project.
