Summer meeting of PAC for Particle Physics

Organization, 18 June 2019

A regular 51st meeting of the Programme Advisory Committee for Particle Physics will be held on 19 – 20 June 2019 in the International Conference Hall in Dubna.

Chairman of the PAC meeting I. Tserruya will report on the implementation of the recommendations of the PAC’s previous meeting. JINR Vice-Director R. Lednický will present the information on the Resolution of the 125th session of the JINR Scientific Council (February 2019) and on the decisions of the JINR Committee of Plenipotentiaries (March 2019).

S. A. Kostromin will present to PAC members the information about the progress towards the realization of the Nuclotron-NICA project. J. A. Mitrofanova will introduce to PAC members the infrastructure developments, including the Nuclotron. Spokesmen of international collaborations of MPD and BM@N experiments A. Kisiel and M. N. Kapishin will report on the progress towards the realization of the experiments.

Reports on themes and projects approved for completion in 2019 and proposals for their continuation will be presented: CMS (A. V. Zarubin and R. Carlin), ATLAS (E. V. Khramov), ALICE (V. N. Pozdnyakov), SCAN-3 (S. V. Afanasiev), NA64 (D. V. Peshekhonov). V. V. Korenkov will report on the development of the JINR Multifunctional Information and Computing Complex (MICC). S. P. Avdeev will offer a new project FASA at the Nuclotron.

Participants of the meeting will learn information on the development of JINR’s strategic long-range plan in the area of relativistic heavy-ion physics and spin physics (R. Tsenov). The programme of the meeting traditionally includes poster reports by young scientists.

Scientific reports will be delivered by F. Šimkovic (“Neutrinoless double-beta decay: theory challenges”) and O. V. Teryaev (“Femto-cyclones and baryon polarization in heavy-ion collisions”).

The agenda of the PAC meeting includes also a meeting of the PAC members with the JINR Directorate. The meeting will be concluded by a general discussion and adoption of the PAC recommendations.
