Если цель большинства массовых популярных изданий – делать научные истины достоянием людей, далеких от науки, то Еженедельник ОИЯИ ориентируется не на читателя вообще, а на вполне определенную аудиторию: ученых, инженеров, рабочих высокого класса. В этом специфика нашего еженедельника, в этом заключается и сложность работы коллектива газеты, который ставит перед собой цель сочетать популярность изложения с исключительной научной строгостью, достоверностью, ведь всякая сенсационность нашим авторам и читателям чужда.

В условиях международного научного центра трудно провести резкую грань между темой науки и темой сотрудничества ученых разных стран, которое с самых первых номеров стало еще одной ведущей темой. Практически все ведущие ученые стран-участниц, имена которых носят аллеи на площадках Института, были авторами газеты или с готовностью давали интервью ее корреспондентам. Таким образом, еженедельник “Дубна” стал международной научной трибуной, рассказывая о выдающихся результатах научных исследований и технических достижениях. При этом газета никогда не забывала о том, что ОИЯИ -уникальная школа высшей квалификации для ученых и инженеров из всех стран-участниц. Путь становления ученого стал еще одной магистральной темой газеты. Пожалуй, не будет преувеличением сказать, что на ее страницах создается в какой-то степени коллективный портрет современного ученого, достаточно достоверный и объективный. Знакомясь с рассказами о деятельности ученых, как известных, так и молодых, можно глубже понять, как делается наука, как она трудна и как нелегок “путь к ее сияющим вершинам”.“Дубна” – такая же необходимая часть жизни ОИЯИ, как препринты, библиотека, семинары, конференции. “Дубна” – часть того, что я бы назвал институтским “информационным полем”, и без нее это “поле” будет неполным, дырявым. Из недели в неделю она ведет свою летопись будничной жизни науки в ее преломлении через судьбу ОИЯИ и работающих здесь людей и сообщает нам друг о друге, а всем вместе – о нас самих (как сказал бы М.Жванецкий). JINR and Ministry of Science of Brazil signed cooperation agreement
On 8 May 2025, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Federative Republic of Brazil (MCTI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Russia.
In the wake of the departed (H. L. Vardenga)
On 12 May, after a serious and prolonged illness, Heinrich L.Vardenga, a physicist, a poet, a man of a great soul and a loving heart, passed away. He was born in Georgia on 7 December, 1933. He started his career in 1960, after having graduated from the Faculty of Physics and postgraduate studies at Tbilisi State University, in the Department of Cosmic Rays of the LPI of the Georgian SSR. In 1962, he moved to Dubna and started working as a senior researcher at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics of JINR, where he was engaged in the investigation of decay properties of K0-mesons.
JINR MIСC: a new level of development
On 17 April, the next stage of modernization of the JINR Multifunctional Information Computing Complex (MICС) was completed at the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies of JINR. At this stage, the engineering equipment providing power supply and cooling was upgraded: climate control systems, power distribution modules.

The 65th birthday of Head of the YUMO Group of DNICM FLNP Alexander Ivanovich Kuklin has been recently celebrated. After having graduated from the Physics Department of Moscow State University, he joined FLNP and has been working in the Laboratory for more than half of his life. Yet, he tells us not about himself but about the YUMO facility, his colleagues and his investigations.
Baksan School “Particles and Cosmology”
On 3 – 11 April, the International School for students, postgraduates and young scientists specializing in the interdisciplinary field at the interface of particle physics and astronomy – particle astrophysics was held at the foot of Mount Elbrus, in the village of Terskol, not far from the Baksan Neutrino Observatory (BNO) of INR RAS. The 17th International School “Particles and Cosmology” in Baksan was held jointly by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the Institute of Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences (INR RAS) with the organizational support of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh. M. Berbekov.
A decade of the Institute: results, considerations, plans
In the early days of JINR foundation, when the issue of establishing the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics was still under discussion, some authoritative people spoke against the separation of theorists into an independent laboratory, such as, the future academician M.A.Markov, although he was a theorist and a close friend of D.I.Blokhintsev. V.I.Veksler was definitely against it, fearing that the theorists would go into the maze of some theory of quantized fields and stop working on the experiment.
“(not)published”: in the space of a paper sheet
The exhibition “(not)published” that was inaugurated on 6 May in the JINR Cultural Centre “Mir” is timed to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and offers a look at history through fragile artifacts of personal and collective memory.

On 26 April, the Vocal Ensemble “Metelitsa” performed at the restaurant “Dubna”, where a meeting of liquidators of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident was held. The artists performed vocal compositions imbued with warmth and respect for people that had sacrificed their health to save thousands of lives. The concert was dedicated to the veterans of the liquidation of the Chernobyl accidents, among the audience were relatives of the victims and JINR staff members.
