Agreement on cooperation between JINR and INFN was signed

Today, on 12 April 2017, a festive ceremony of signing a cooperation Agreement between the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN, Italy) was held in the Italian Embassy in Moscow.

JINR Director Victor Matveev and INFN President Fernando Ferroni signed the new Agreement on INFN-JINR cooperation in the presence of President of the Italian Republic Signor Sergio Mattarella. The signing ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Russian Federation in JINR Grigory Trubnikov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic in the Russian Federation Cesare Maria Ragaglini, Scientific Counsellor of the Italian Embassy in the Russian Federation Pietro Fré, INFN Vice President Antonio Masiero, INFN Vice President Antonio Zoccoli, JINR Chief Scientific Secretary Alexander Sorin, Director of the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics JINR Vladimir Kekelidze and Director of the INFN International Affairs Service Roberto Pellegrini.

As it is commonly known, the current agreement between JINR and INFN, which was signed in 2011, expires this year in June. The new agreement is concluded for a period of 6 years and marks a qualitatively new stage in the development of cooperation with our Italian colleagues.

The agreement itself encompasses collaboration in the field of theoretical, experimental, astroparticle, nuclear and subnuclear physics and related technologies.

The activities and matters concerning mutual interests of organizations within the framework of the Agreement will be governed by a Standing Committee composed of three representatives from each organization.
