JINR-Mongolia cooperation enhancement and governmental awards

On 27 June, a delegation of the Embassy of Mongolia to the Russian Federation visited JINR. During the visit, the parties discussed prospects for the Mongolia-JINR cooperation development and paid special attention to the educational field and spread of information about the Institute. Representatives of the Mongolian diplomatic mission got acquainted with the JINR scientific infrastructure, as well as presented awards of the Mongolian Government to two employees of the Joint Institute.

At a meeting in the Institute’s Directorate, JINR Vice-Director Latchesar Kostov noted that Mongolia was one of the founding states of the scientific centre on the Volga river. “JINR has long-standing and strong contacts with Mongolia. Mongolian scientists considerably contribute to the development of the Institute. The Directorate and the Member States highly appreciate their efforts. To date, more than 20 scientists from this country take part in JINR activities, covering all its scientific areas. It is necessary to continue enhancing this fruitful cooperation,” he highlighted.

Speaking about promising cooperation directions, the parties discussed educational initiatives with special interest. The head of the Mongolian delegation, Head of the Consular Section of the Embassy of Mongolia to Russia Dashpurev Amarsaikhan noted that the Institute is a window into many areas of exact sciences. In this regard, participants of the meeting noted special importance of the recent acquisition of the status of a federal institution by the University “Dubna” and the opening of the MSU branch in Dubna. It is possible to organize the admission of Mongolian students majoring in natural sciences through them. Moreover, the Mongolian party suggested JINR taking part in an annual fair at the Russian House in Mongolia so that to spread information about the Institute.

To acknowledge the value of international cooperation between JINR and Mongolia and the contribution to joint research, employees of the Joint Institute received state awards upon the decision of the President of Mongolia. Advisor to the MLIT Director Igor Puzynin received the Order of the Polar Star of Mongolia. “I am happy to work with Mongolian colleagues,” he said. “This award is not only for me but to our entire international team.” The Medal of Friendship of Mongolia was presented to a BLTP Leading Researcher Sergey Vinitsky. In his acceptance speech, he noted successful cooperation with Mongolian colleagues and the importance of continuity of scientific generations.

Within the programme of the visit, the delegation visited the Laboratory of Information Technologies, the Laboratory of Radiation Biology, as well as met with the national group of Mongolia in JINR.
