Marathon “JINR visiting Dubna schools”

On 18 October, Dubna Lyceum No.6 hosted a JINR Day as part of the marathon “JINR visiting Dubna schools”.

JINR scientists spent the whole school day talking to Lyceum’s students, performed scientific chemical and physical experiments, spoke about recent achievements in the fields of radiobiology and astrophysics, gave a career guidance talk.

A VBLHEP researcher Dmitry Dryablov demonstrated to the youngest students how the physical laws work and a FLNP researcher Constantin Hramco performed a number of chemical experiments. Secondary schoolstudents watched a video lecture on the NICA collider. Yury Severyukhin, a researcher at LRB, introduced main research carried out in the Laboratory of Radiation Biology and explained how radiation affects living organisms in space. Nikolay Anfimov, Head of Sector at DLNP, presented the main fields of research conducted at the Institute.

The marathon was organized by the JINR University Centre within the framework of the Year of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation. It began in April 2021, on the eve of the 65th anniversary of the Institute. 246 students of Lyceum No.6 participated in the JINR Day. So far, the marathon “JINR visiting Dubna schools” has been held at 6 educational institutions of Dubna, with the total number of participants being 2,545. By the end of 2021, all schools of Dubna are to host events of the marathon.
