Winter meeting of the PAC for Particle Physics

The 52nd regular meeting of the Programme Advisory Committee for Particle Physics will be held on 3 – 4 February 2020 in the International Conference Hall in Dubna.

Chairman of the PAC PP I. Tserruya will open the first day of the session with the report on the implementation of the recommendations of the previous PAC meeting (June 2019). JINR Vice-Director R. Lednický will present to the participants of the meeting information on the Resolution of the 126th session of the JINR Scientific Council (September 2019) and on the decisions of the JINR Committee of Plenipotentiaries (November 2019). Information on the Draft Strategic plan for the long-term development of JINR (in the field of particle physics) will be presented by JINR Vice-Director B. Yu. Sharkov and DLNP Deputy Director D. V. Naumov.

The PAC PP members will consider the reports by A. O. Sidorin on the progress towards the realization of the Nuclotron-NICA project and by N. N. Agapov on the infrastructure developments, including the Nuclotron. Leaders of the MPD and BM@N collaborations A. Kisiel and M. N. Kapishin will report on the progress towards the realization of the projects. A. P. Cheplakov will make a report on the project “Upgrade of the ATLAS detector”. Moreover, the revised proposals of the projects NA64 and FASA will be presented by D. V. Peshekhonov and S. P. Avdeev. Participants of the meeting will consider reports on the projects and the proposal for opening a new project “Search for new physics in the charged lepton sector”: Mu2e, MEG-II (V. V. Glagolev), COMET (Z. Tsamalaidze). Reports on scientific results obtained by the JINR groups in the LHC experiments will be made at the PAC meeting: ALICE (E. P. Rogochaya), ATLAS (E. V. Khramov), CMS (V. Yu. Aleksakhin). Written reports on projects approved for completion in 2019 BOREXINO and PANDA will be presented to the PAC participants.

E. E. Kolomeitsev will make the scientific report “Pion at various stages of heavy-ion collisions”. Moreover, the agenda of the meeting traditionally includes poster presentations by young scientists.

The programme of the PAC meeting also includes a joint meeting of the PAC members with the JINR Directorate. General discussion and adoption of the Recommendations will traditionally conclude the PAC PP meeting.
