Zambia. The first acquaintance

A governmental delegation from the Republic of Zambia arrived to JINR with a reconnaissance visit on 17 February 2017. The delegation was headed by Secretary to Cabinet of the Office of the President Dr. Roland Msiska. The delegation also consisted of Permanent Secretary Mr. Simon Miti, Permanent Secretary of the Office of Higher Education Mr. Owen Mugemezulu and other officials. The delegation was accompanied by representatives of the SC “Rosatom”.

The guests were welcomed by members of the JINR Directorate, leaders of the JINR International Cooperation Department, representatives of JINR Laboratories and JINR University Centre in the Visit Centre. In the form of small presentations, the guests were acquainted with the basic facts about JINR, the Medico-Technical Complex of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems and synthesis of superheavy elements at the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions. Further, the delegation visited the spectrometers complex of the IBR-2 reactor and the factory of superconducting magnets of the NICA mega-project.

Summing up the results of the visit during a working dinner, the head of the delegation Roland Msiska expressed interest in continuing contacts with JINR, and especially emphasized the interest in activities of the Sector of Neutron Activation Analysis. At the end of the visit, the coordinator for further communication with JINR was appointed from the composition of the delegation.
