Dear colleagues and friends,

Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov met with young JINR scientists and specialists this week to discuss comfortable infrastructure in Dubna. The visit highlighted the great importance of JINR as an international project to the Russian Federation, the region, and the city.

Representatives of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems at JINR visited the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology. The parties learned about each other’s activities, exchanged expertise, and discussed collaborative advanced studies in biomedical technologies.

Cooperation

DLNP JINR delegation at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology

During the visit aimed at discussing joint research, JINR scientists held a scientific seminar to present the Institute’s studies in time-domain diffuse optics. In addition, the programme included an introduction to Skoltech’s advanced research in diffuse optics, optoacoustics, and biotechnology.

25th Baikal Summer School on Physics of Elementary Particles and Astrophysics started

More than 90 participants gathered in Bolshiye Koty village to explore modern particle physics and astrophysics research. The programme includes lectures by leading experts, hands-on classes with real detectors, team project activities, and group discussions moderated by specialists.

GRID’2025 conference: present and future of grid technologies discussed at MLIT at JINR

The 11th International Conference “Distributed Computing and Grid Technologies in Science and Education” took place from 7 to 11 July. The key topic was prospects for the development of high-performance and distributed computing, modern grid technologies, and big data processing.

Research

LHC detects indication of quasi-bound state of top-quark pair

The discovery was made by scientists from the CMS and ATLAS Collaborations at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN with the participation of JINR physicists. The results could provide insights into the physics of top quarks and the nature of strong interactions between them.

Program for operating stepper motor controller registered

Employees of the Laboratory of High Energy Physics at JINR created a program for operating a SMSD-4.2CAN stepper motor controller with a minimal set of commands. The program allows users to move the controller and has an emergency stop function.

Moscow Region Governor met with young scientists at JINR

On 15 July, at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics, young JINR scientists and specialists, winners of the Social Mortgage competition and laureates of the Moscow Region Governor’s Prize, met with Andrey Vorobyov. The key topic was the development of comfortable infrastructure in Dubna.

A research intern at the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems at JINR Sergey Zavyalov received a RAS medal in nuclear physics for developing software for the Baikal-GVD Experiment. Congratulations on this achievement!
