JINR welcomes participants of JEMS-8!

The 8th International training programme for decision-makers in science and international scientific cooperation «JINR Expertise for Member States and Partner Countries» (JEMS-8) started in JINR on Monday, 3 September 2018.

Senior officials, managers, specialists from state institutions, educational and scientific organizations of Bulgaria, Egypt, Italy, the South Africa and Vietnam came to Dubna to participate in JEMS-8. Moreover, representatives from Botswana will take part in the training programme for the first time. Vietnamese representatives have actively participated in previous programmes, and this time Plenipotentiary Representative of Vietnam Le Hong Khiem, who has come to JINR with a delegation, took the opportunity to get acquainted in detail with the Institute’s infrastructure and divisions. Moreover, the JEMS platform is used to organize working visits to JINR, and now leaders of the Legnaro National Laboratory INFN are taking this opportunity.

Following the tradition, the 8th JEMS training programme was officially launched in the JINR Visit Centre. Moreover, on the opening day at the meeting with the JINR Directorate, JEMS participants were welcomed by JINR Director V.A. Matveev and Vice-Directors R. Lednický and V.D. Kekelidze. During the discussion, the guests shared their expectations of the upcoming week in Dubna and the objectives they set themselves which include acquaintance with JINR activities, identification of promising areas for cooperation, preparation of information for publication in the interests of the general public and others.

The programme of JEMS-8 is designed in accordance with the existing thematic grouping of lectures and excursions for each day of the training. In the frames of the training programme, participants will have detailed lectures and presentations on organizational principles, scientific research and fields of JINR activities. The participants will visit objects of the JINR research infrastructure, will learn about the major fields and results of activities of all seven JINR laboratories and the JINR University Centre. The format of the training programme gives the guests an opportunity not only to get a comprehensive overview of JINR, but also to hold meetings with members of the JINR Directorate, senior officials and leading specialists of the Institute to discuss the fields the participants are interested in.
